Below we have listed the most often asked questions:
Why doesn't the food spoil?
In a Hostess the food is kept at a temperature such that it does not cook anymore, it is just kept hot without risk of drying out or spoiling
How long can I keep the food hot?
You can keep most foods hot in a Hostess for 2 hours or more, depending on the type of food. Some dishes, such as chilli, curry or casserole taste even better when kept in a Hostess for up to 4 hours.
How long before I need it do I switch it on?
Turn your Hostess Trolley on 20 minutes before you need it. The Hot Trays only require 8 minutes to reach operating temperature.
What type of dishes should I use?
Foods should be kept in flat-based dishes. That maximises heat transference from the products to the dish. Remember also to use covered dishes to ensure the best results.
Can I use my own china plates and dishes?
Yes. However, you must ensure that these are placed on or in the product before it is switched on otherwise thermal shock (sudden change in temperature) could damage your dishes. Bone china can be used if you already put this in your own oven then it will be perfectly satisfactory for your Hostess.
When should I use my Hostess?
Family meals, buffets, BBQ's, informal evenings, takeaways, entertaining..... you soon find you use it everyday, whatever model you use.
Can I get wood swatches/samples of the various Hostess finishes?
Unfortunately, these are not available. Instead Hostess have produced photography that shows the colours and styling of the various Hostess's available. These images you can view by looking at the products section of this site.
